The AD5232 is a dual-channel, 256-position digital potentiometer designed to provide a compact, low-cost solution for applications that require electronic adjustment of analog signals. It operates from a single supply of 2.7 V to 5.5 V and is guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Each channel of the AD5232 contains a 256-position potentiometer, and each potentiometer has an associated volatile Wiper Register (WR) that can be written to and read back. The AD5232 supports a dual-supply operation, making it an excellent choice for applications where a bipolar supply is required.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Supply Voltage | 5.5 V |
| Operating Temperature | -40°C to +125°C |
| Storage Temperature | -65°C to +150°C |
| Parameter | Condition | Min | Typ | Max | Unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Resistance | At 25°C | 9.5 kΩ | 10 kΩ | 10.5 kΩ | kΩ |
| Temperature Coefficient | Over the operating temperature range | -500 | -300 | -100 | ppm/°C |
When designing with the AD5232, it is essential to consider the operating temperature range, supply voltage, and resistance tolerance to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, the dual-supply operation capability should be considered for applications requiring bipolar supply.
The AD5232 should be handled with care to prevent damage to the package and the internal circuitry. It is recommended to follow standard IC handling and installation procedures to ensure reliable operation.
The AD5232 is a volatile device, meaning that the wiper position is lost when power is removed. If non-volatile memory is required, an external device such as an EEPROM should be used to store the wiper position.
